Beautiful millefiori art glass paperweight made by Perthshire Paperweights in Crieff, Scotland. This particular paperweight is large-sized and measures about 3 in diameter. It's dome-shaped with a hollow ground base. The design features a beautiful maroon red background. It has a central cane with a "P" inside surrounded by 2 concentric rings of canes.
The backround is divided into sections separated by 14 radial twists with canes in an unusual 1-1-1-2-2 pattern. I believe this to be a PP1 paperweight made between 1978 and 1981, based on information on page 77 in the book. The Complete Guide to Perthshire Paperweights. It's guaranteed to be an authentic Perthshire paperweight and not a cheap imitation. Condition of this vintage Perthshire paperweight is EXCELLENT.I did notice a thin, internal raised arch over the center rings of canes that I can't explain (see photo). It's only visible from certain angles. I don't see any noticeable scratches or nicks. Overall, this Perthshire paperweight looks fantastic and displays beautifully. It would make a fine addition to any collection.
