Crown paperweights are some of the most highly sought after of all antique weights. Louis Crowns are well known.
This crown is a "two color" crown with twisted ribbons that are BLUE on one side and light GREEN on the other. The edges of the ribbons are white, but that is not considered when determining how many colors there are in the crown. Alternating with these Blue/Green twists are White latticinio twists. A Red/White/Blue complex millefiori cane at the top center completes the design.
Very few antique weights are signed; however the St. The weight is 2-1/2" in diameter and 1-11/16" high. It has been professionally polished and the upper surface is perfect with no damage, chips, or scratches. There is a bit of wear to the base rim, appropriate for the age of the weight.
Louis Crown weights are hollow. When the pontil was broken off this weight during the making it left an open hole in the base. (St Louis Crown weights are hollow inside). There is some chipping around that hole that occurred during the making.
Except for this open hole in the base, Overall condition is near perfect. The item "Rare ANTIQUE ST. LOUIS Two Color BLUE and GREEN CROWN" is in sale since Monday, January 28, 2019. This item is in the category "Pottery & Glass\Glass\Art Glass\Paperweights".
