This one-of-a-kind creation clearly reveals Kevin's master status. Please do not expect it to be machine-made perfect with no personality, manufacturing errors, and other hard-to-capture-on-camera anomalies.
"Burn-marks" are no stranger to Kevin when it comes to his huge pieces; these are "pin-prick-like" residues (or rough spots) left from the usage of newspaper ash in the assistance of shaping of the molten glass. Other owners (or previous owners) of his over 3.5" marbles will also tell you about these "pin prick-like residues or anomalies. We do not consider "burn-marks" as defects. They are part of the creative process. The marble is, after all, handmade and HUGE. This size is nothing to sneeze at, just to rub it in.Not many glass craftsmen can do it. Then again, it is unfair to compare him to a craftsman, for he is a real artist, after all.
The piece truly belongs in a museum. Actual color may vary from pictures due to digital camera phenomenon, lighting, your computer settings, and other factors.
Please do not hesitate to ask questions. Thank you for stopping by.The "Coral Reef Vortex" marble by artist Kevin O'Grady is the only one that's being auctioned off.
