This is a nice Cape Cod Glass Works blue twisted latticino with white tips, and fine white filigree crown paperweight with a nice complex millefiori cane on top. It measures a little over 2 3/4" in diameter, and a little over 2 1/4" high. It is in excellent condition with no chips, or cracks. Bottom has a Clichy style rose cane with the "WBC" in tiny lettering in the center, a cane which was only used on the pieces Bill Burchfield made himself. I bought this directly from the family of the owners of the Cape Cod Glass Works.
Bill Burchfield started glass working at Pairpoint in the 1970's, and went on to start his own studio/glass factory in the late 70's or early 80's, in Buzzards Bay, MA, then on to Sagamore, MA in the late 80's working through the 1990's, until it moved to Tennessee in about 2000 only working for a brief time before finally ceasing operations, and made some of the most beautiful crown weights, swirls, marbries, and millefiori paperweights and marbles, at the height of his career in the 1990s, and was best known for his Clichy style rose canes which are some of the best contemporary examples, in my opinion.
