Antique Millefiori Paperweight Unknown Factory, Clichy

Originally attributed to 2nd period Clichy (due probably to the fact that, like classic Clichy designs, the canes are arranged on parallel latticinio rods) new findings point to a far more likely Belgian origin for this excellent 19th Century millefiori roundel design. Surrounding a circle of green-sheathed white star canes are 5 further circles of well-m ade complex millefiori canes. Most of these canes - including those at the centre of the circles - contain, or are composed solely, of 6-point star canes. Encircled by a garland of green/blue millefiori canes and set on parallel latticinio rods. Polished, concave base with wear ring Top condition: no cracks, chips, bruises or fleabites Measurements: D: 85mm (3 5/16"); H: 65mm (2 9/16"). The articles I sell are mostly antique or pre-owned.
