From the artist: The universal appeal of the Pacific Collection has made it a favourite choice for companies and collectors worldwide. This vibrant scene is part of Raos Pacific Collection, featuring a lifelike menagerie of stylized parrotfish, tube-worms, anemonae, and fan-coral. The glass is free from visible scratches or chips: the only visible air bubbles are those presumably intended by the artist to give the illusion of life and motion underwater. Peter Raos is a well-regarded artist, and these works are very rare. Photos are unedited actual colors are more vibrant than shown. , so please don't hesitate to write with questions. The starting point for the Pacific Collection was a desire to reference the memory of looking into a rock pool and wondering how the life and beauty in that rock pool was created.

One of the key features about my paperweights is that they read in the round, in other words, as you turn them around, you see a changing scene; it is very difficult to achieve. The Pacific Collection is like looking into a microcosm of the natural world and slowly discovering more detail, including the composition of the marine landscape, the fish, the starfish and the colour palette. Its all about our rich Pacific environment. Raos melts his own glass from the highest quality materials and hand forms the work on a steel blowpipe. He makes the sea creatures by hand out of special coloured glass and these are pre-formed before inclusion into each piece.

He uses a variety of traditional paperweight techniques including making and designing murrine to create the coral reef. The rich background of lichen rock is comprised of layers of coloured glass. Every seascape is unique and each piece is signed and dated by the artist. I like the contrast between that intense sea colour and the abundant sea life waving about in the invisible current. It has taken years to develop the murrine into complex patterns and colour combinations.

It is one area where you can see this series evolving literally before your eyes, because as I finish using one type of murrine, I change the colours and composition of the murrine before I construct the next ones. The Pacific Collection represents his transformation of South Pacific elements into beautiful art glass objects. The universal appeal of the Pacific Collection has made it a favourite choice for companies including ----- and collectors worldwide. I have listed this item to the best of my ability.
